After the old gods warred and drove themselves to extinction, the cataclysm of their fall shattered the land of Vigrio. Now, power-hungry jarls carve out petty kingdoms, and monsters stalk the shadow-haunted woods and mountains. A world where the bones of the dead gods still hold great power, promising fame, and fortune for those brave - or desperate - enough to seek them out. Sancia Grado is a thief, and a damn good one. And her latest target, a heavily guarded warehouse on Tevanne’s docks, is nothing her unique abilities can’t handle. The Merchant Houses who control this magic - the art of using coded commands to imbue everyday objects with sentience - have already used it to transform Tevanne into a vast, remorseless capitalist machine.

Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

A return to the world of Samantha Shannon's Sunday Times and New York Times-bestselling The Priory of the Orange Tree
Bloomsbury presents A Day of Fallen Night, by Samantha Shannon, read by Ellie Kendrick, Sheila Atim, Thoren Ferguson and Hanako Footman. This audiobook features an exclusive interview with Samantha Shannon and Sunday Times bestselling author of The Final Strife and Faebound, Saara El-Arifi.
Tunuva Melim is a sister of the Priory. For fifty years, she has trained to slay wyrms – but none have appeared since the Nameless One, and the younger generation is starting to question the Priory's purpose.
To the north, in the Queendom of Inys, Sabran the Ambitious has married the new King of Hróth, narrowly saving both realms from ruin. Their daughter, Glorian, trails in their shadow – exactly where she wants to be.
The dragons of the East have slept for centuries. Dumai has spent her life in a Seiikinese mountain temple, trying to wake the gods from their long slumber. Now someone from her mother's past is coming to upend her fate.
When the Dreadmount erupts, bringing with it an age of terror and violence, these women must find the strength to protect humankind from a devastating threat.
Intricate and epic, A Day of Fallen Night sweeps readers back to the world of A Priory of the Orange Tree, showing us a course of events that shaped it for generations to come.

Even better than Priory
I sincerely hope Shannon makes good and expands this series. Fantastic in every way. Highly recommended.

Absolutely stunning story and performance
I loved this so much, it is just such a wonderfully solid and beautiful story. The narrators really added an extra dimension of epic.

Nice
An easy engaging listen, though it took a while for the story to pull me in.

I think it could have been a good book
I got maybe an hour in but just couldn't do it ... one of the narrators kept putting me to sleep, her voice is perfect for sleeptime aps but I had no idea how the story of her characters were progressing because for the life of me I couldn't keep interested in her voice
It was soothing to the point of boring/sleep ... sorry I'm sure she's a lovely human :(
Had to return this book but I am reading Book 1 of this series and think it's great!

disappointing
the background and lore are interesting, but the characters are very difficult to engage with and the pacing is inconsistent
